Saying it doesn't make it so
You told me
"Saying it doesn't make it so."
I understood
and I knew you were completely right...
Though I wanted to argue
with long ago scholars who idolized language.
Are not words the best
and most efficient way to communicate?
Can we not express more clearly
with sounds and language
the message we wish to impart?
My arguments were expressed uncertainties
of the unknown...
Did you really know?
Could you feel it in the touch of my hand...?
Did you taste it in the tender way my lips brushed yours...
Did you observe it in the deep browns of my eyes...
Were you aware of it when you caught me
watching you, seemingly unnoticed...?
Would you sense it flowing from my heart as we shared
from those deep places inside
that were privy to no other...?
I guessed you might
so I waited...
And left unsaid three words
that could easily embrace
the true depth,
the intense devotion,
the immeasurable feelings...
And one day
I suppose when time chooses
And God ordains
I will voice to you those words
That you already know to be true.
I Love You Michael
